It's a long shot, I'll admit, but blogs can make you a star - either in your own narrow field or more broadly. Of course, the most famous example of a law blogger who catapulted into the limelight is Glenn Reynolds, a law professor and Instapundit, but close behind are Howard Bashman of How Appealing whose weblog boasts over 2 million visits in an 18 month period and is revered by cults of "Bash-maniac" law clerks nationwide and Ernie the Attorney whose blog on technology and various other law related topics was one of the pioneers.
